How it is different from stretching on your own
When you stretch yourself, you can only go as far as your own muscles will allow before they guard. A practitioner can position a joint precisely, stabilize the rest of your body, and ease you past that guard safely. You relax completely while they do the work, which is exactly why the stretch goes deeper.
It is also more targeted than a group class. Instead of a generic routine, the session focuses on the specific patterns found in your assessment.
The techniques behind it
- Functional movement assessment to find where range is missing
- Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), a contract-and-release method that unlocks range quickly and safely
- Fascial stretch therapy (FST) principles that work the connective tissue and the joint, not just the muscle
What it helps with
People choose assisted stretching to improve mobility, reduce everyday stiffness, and move more comfortably. Whether it is long hours at a desk, post-workout tightness, reduced flexibility, or feeling restricted during daily activities, assisted stretching provides a personalized, hands-on approach tailored to your body's needs.
What a session looks like at StretchWell
Your first visit is a 50-minute Introductory Mobility Assessment: three minutes of assessing your movement, 45 minutes of personalized assisted stretching, and two minutes reviewing a few simple at-home stretches to help maintain your progress between sessions. You remain fully clothed in comfortable clothing, and no prior flexibility is required to get started.
Assessment first, stretch second. The tight spot is not always the source.
